For those of you who seem to always be on the run and can’t always find the time to pull out your laptop, find a wireless signal and wait for AutoCAD to open your CAD files, I have come across a neat feature of Autodesk’s Project Freewheel along with a few minor downfalls.
Autodesk’s Project Freewheel (Autodesk’s Freewheel Labs Page) was created to allow AutoCAD users to more easily exchange data with clients, colleauges and other people who may be involved in a project. The best thing that I have found out is that with a smart phone, such as the Motorola Q or Palm Treo 650, you can actually visit the Freewheel site and actually view the DWF’s that you publish to the Freewheel site. With the site you are able to view your DWF’s from almost anywhere, as long as you have internet access, but the only major issue that I have seen in my ‘experimental’ usage, is that you are unable to view the more advanced 3D DWF’s. To try this out on your smart phone, point your internet browser to the address below and play around with the example drawing that is already posted on the site.
